What if the foodborne illness you experienced… could have been prevented? According to the World Health Organization (2024), approximately 600 million people worldwide suffer from foodborne illnesses each year, with 420,000 fatalities attributed to the consumption of contaminated food. The primary causes of these illnesses are infections from bacteria, viruses, and parasites. Advances in scientific risk assessment, improvements in food control systems, and the application of modern thermal processing technologies have significantly enhanced the industry's ability to prevent, detect, and respond to food safety hazards.
As a member of the Certified Group and Food Safety Net Services, EAS clients have access to world-renowned testing laboratories that meet your organization’s sophisticated needs. One of the most challenging aspects of doing business in the U.S. is navigating the many and varied regulatory requirements of U.S. agencies.
When working with food imports overseen by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), that means compliance with not only U.S. Customs and Border Protection requirements (CBP) but those related to FDA and USDA imports, a well as other federal agencies. Avoiding FDA and USDA detention as well as Import Alert Lists are key to expediting entry.
